Product Description The TomTom ONE XL-S is the high end of TomTom's ONE line of basic portable gps navigators. It adds text-to-speech functionality to the ONE XL's gorgeous widescreen, 4.3-inch display, expanded traffic options that include GPRS- and optional RDS-TMC radio-based real-time traffic information. The TomTom ONE XL is a complete portable GPS vehicle navigation device with an incredible range of features. While it does not have the same array of luxury features as TomTom's GO 720 or GO 920 line, the ONE XL-S offers all the features you need in a solid navigation system. The ONE XL-S has all the features of the ONE XL, but also adds text-to speech, which allows the device to give spoken directions with real street names.

TomTom ONE November 17, 2008 J. W. Don Johnson I had purchased the TomTom GO, with international info, for our 2007 European trip and was amazed at its utility throughout southern Holland, Belgium, parts of Germany and a quick dash to Paris. There simply was no road, lane or path it did not know or recognize. So, with the opportunity to acquire a simple version for my wife's use in her SUV (She is slightly technophobic and refuses to establish or use an e-mail account), I jumped at the refurbed ONE. Though she has slower curve with gadgets, she'll get it. Good product.
This Tom-Tom rocks! November 13, 2008 James Schulze (New Mexico) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been watching the price on the To-Tom over the past two years and when the price dropped on this XL-S, I decided to get one. It may be refurbished, but I couldn't tell it was. Operation was perfect with the exception that the free grade available from the Tom-Tom site wasn't available as being refurbished, it was probably used up. However, support was available for an upgrade at no cost if you work with the home sight on line.I also own the Tom-Tom One (3rd edition) and the later XL-S model does have some improvements, although some of the improvements are a pain to deal with, for example; a bleating noise if one exceeds the speed limit unknowingly. You have to control this noise through the menu options before you start the unit. Also, the computer voice you pick with more voice information to you, is no where near as nice as the pleasant, sexy voice that is available if desired. All in all, the larger screen is easier to see, especially if you are older as I am. Great unit and very operator friendly.
Very nice refurb October 28, 2008 G. Harris (Salinas, CA USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Enjoying this as my first GPS device. Glad I didn't pay full price. I haven't had a chance to play with all the features yet, but I'm really enjoying it. Works like new. The only flaw I found is with the text to speech. It doesn't pronounce non-English names well at all. Considering I live in California, a lot of the the street and city names are Spanish. Makes for a good laugh.
Very pleased with the TOMTOM features. October 24, 2008 Anthony Suarez (Yardville, NJ , USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Very easy to use, like the big screen. The TOMTOM ONE XL-S is the the lowest priced model with the text to speech for actual street naming; this feature is very nice. I'm now spoiled and wouldn't want to go on a trip with out it.
