Well made, a few dissappointments August 6, 2010 jschristian44 I got this to hold my GPS in my car. There are 2 flaws which really bug me. First, whenever you turn it or move it, the bottom bracket falls off the air vent. Second, it gets in the way of my flip up DVD player. The flaws don't outway the cons so I am keeping it. It holds my GPS in very nicely so I can see it and no more falling off my window. The first flaw when you move it is just to move it left or right, like maybe if the passenger wants to see it. It doesn't happen all the time, but more often than not. It's not that bad considering it doesn't fall off when I use the touch screen. If it did that, I would have to return it. The second flaw is my flip-up in dash dvd player which most cars probably don't have so you won't need to worry about that. It comes with a strip to attach it to the dash, but I like the air vent mount the best. It is still worth the money, very nice product.
Edit: I had to change my review to 2 stars. It is made well, but for some reason it doesn't stay on my vents at all now. Don't know what the problem is, but I am going to try something else.
Holds a Sprint Evo 4G perfectly August 2, 2010 J. Eberhard (Austin, TX United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Was the first mount I could find that would hold my Evo. Had issues with every other one I tried. 4 stars only because it's a bitch to get onto the vents and make it stay - otherwise it'd be 5 stars. Build quality is good and there wasn't too much useless packaging.
Not worth it July 27, 2010 Vijay Lakshman (Bethesda, MD) I owned a previous version of this which was really good (4 stars). What's the difference? The actual bracket assembly in the back. The previous version had preset 'clicks' that the bracket (and thereby my iPhone) could rotate thru a full 360 degrees. This made flipping the phone from portrait to landscape viewing easy, which is very important for the iPhone.
The 'new' version uses a cheap locking ring that you have unscrew to loosen and then rescrew to tighten. This made flipping my phone to view a call a two handed job, which clearly defeats the purpose of these things as aids for safer driving.
If you don't have an iPhone or don't need to flip your phone between portrait and landscape mode, this bracket system works just fine.
Quality July 24, 2010 Cody Harris Ordered mine yesterday with 2-day prime shipping... Arrived this morning. Not really related just thought that was awesome.
Anyway, the device is self is great. Fits fine in my '98 Dodge Avenger and works well my MyTouch Slide. It's a little annoying considering all of the vents in my car are vertically adjustable so there isn't a place to clip it where it won't move around a little, but even considering that the neck is adjustable enough to still point it in the right direction. The packaging and construction is very nice and not low budget like some other mounts I have tried. I recommend it. Looking into buying another suction cup one for my desk.
Bulky, but it works. July 20, 2010 Mr. Mich (Los Angeles, CA) One car has it on a vent, the other, on an AMPS compatible mount. This will hold practically any handheld device you can think of. The foam rubber on the extending "clamps" provide a good amount of cushion and grip, and compress to hold your device very securely in place: you could put a smartphone in the vertical position without having to use the lower supports that can flip in or out. The clamps can also widen or narrow independently to support wider device or make space for buttons or charger cables. Ugly and bulky, but that's the price you pay for universal compatibility. These are used primarily for holding my Android smartphone and 3.5" Garmin nuvi.
