I love this gps..it is my 3rd garmin. I am not completely satisfied with the bluetooth and having it recognize my phone book (works about 2 out of 10 times). The sound for the bluetooth is less than my 765T that I had. Voice recognition can be amusing but works most of the time. Overall, I love it...very impressed.

The graphics are great...the maps are good too but there is still some missing information or outdated information in some cases (but very very few and that's to be expected). The only reason why I gave a 3 on the loudness is because of the sound quality - especially while using hands free to make a call. The sound quality of incoming calls is fairly poor.
But, all in all, this product was well worth it. Love it.

I received the 3790T Garmin GPS for my birthday at the end of July. It was beautiful, thin and sleek. The features that it touted were amazing. The picture clarity was impressive. We used the GPS for a trip to Canada and it performed well (minus a few exceptions of it alerting us to traffic congestion, when there was none.) Shortly after that it began to have difficulty turning on. On a trip to a nearby city, I wanted to find alternate routes to my destination, after it finally turned on, it wouldn't recalculate the route in time for me to make the necessary directional changes. The popup ads were terrible, I don't really care for $5.99 all you can eat Sushi. Once those stupid ads popped up, they wouldn't clear from the screen so I could continue navigating (the screen would freeze). After that trip, when I returned home I shut off the GPS and it never turned on again. I tried resetting it, charging it etc., it still wouldn't turn on. What a disappointment. I hadn't even had the GPS for two weeks before it broke. I too had issues with it getting hot, but live someplace that we use the AC year round, so I would turn the AC unit on to the defrost mode and it would cool the GPS unit down. I am disappointed that my new GPS unit failed after only two weeks and I despise the stupid popup ads. I liked the features that this GPS was supposed to offer, but I doubt I will go with another Garmin due to the poor quality.

Having just had my Garmin nuvi 650 fail after only 13 months (out of warranty) for an inoperable resistive touch screen, and having just had my Garmin nuvi 660 fail after only three years for loss of satellite reception; I was not happy when my new Garmin nuvi 3790T had problems straight out of the box. After ten minutes of use, the display would begin to fade such that the colors would lose contrast. By the time 30 minutes of continuous use had passed, the display was unreadable. This would occur even on a desk in the house so it was not temperature related.
After a few attempts by Garmin technicians to correct the problem by resetting the unit to factory settings and removing my personal list of favorites, Garmin instructed me to ship the unit to them for replacement. However, now I have not only paid the nearly full price for a new 3790T GPS but have also had to pay $16 in shipping and insurance just to return the unit to them to have a poor initial quality problem corrected. Not happy.
On the other hand, once the unit was operating correctly, I love the features and capabilities. The voice command feature is worth the upgrade. This unit will also work with my Jitterbug telephone using bluetooth whereas the hands free bluetooth feature in my new car does not.

Been using it for three weeks and I have no complaints. A great unit and I am more than satisfied with my purchase. I guess the only negative thing about the purchase is the leather case I purchased separately. The 3970T is too thin to be held in the case and falls out. Not a good design. I used a couple of rubber bands to cinch it. Did the manufacturer get the correct specs on the Nuvi? Probably not. Ahh, it was made in China! I'll be contacting Amazon for a replacement pouch. But the 3790 is a great machine! Will keep you all posted!
